What is “Mirror Finishing of Molds”?

On Molds of optical products, the position and shape of gate and ejector is significant.

It is required that not only fill resins or take products out from molds but also the shape after gate-cutting and the bump marks of ejector pin won't affect optical characteristics. Therefore, each of departments (Design, Mold Manufacture, Molding) works together aiming for optimization.

Also, on mold manufacture, mirror surface is especially important.

Regarding light guide taking advantage of light diffusion occurred by roughening side partially, the more mirror surface of other sides is high, the more it makes possible to bring the diffusion effectively.

In other words, our molds for optical products are manufactured based on having high mirror surface.

As for molds mirror finishing process, not only skilled workers, but also using manufacturing machine which can make Fresnel lens which needs precise processing and high mirror surface, also we have machine specialized for polishing process.
